I Can Smell the Salsa

We have arrived at the eight week mark!  While some things have taken off swimmingly, other things have been an utter failure.  Despite the fencing I put in a few weeks ago, the bunnies have somehow managed to come in and eat all the swiss chard I have attempted to plant (after three rounds I decided to give up).  I have been taking notes as I have replanted and moved some plants around.  Sadly, beets do not get along with the soil in my plot.  Fingers crossed the vertical potatoes take off.

The tomato and tomatillos are doing amazing well.  In only a few short weeks there will be tons of low hanging fruit; I can start making all my most favorite summer dishes and canning things to be enjoyed throughout the winter.

4 Week Update

In a world of immediate gratification, gardening has taught me the importance of patients.  The first few weeks are the hardest, because you have to wait and see if you purchased good seeds, if there has been enough sun/water, and/or if the animals have been snacking on your tender seedlings.  At the 4 week mark I have only replaced the basil plants and added some more lettuce to the mix.  Fingers crossed things continue and I will be making salsa in no time!
