Cherry Blossom Kite Festival

One of my most favorite parts about the Cherry Blossom Festival is the one Saturday which kids and adults all come out to the National Mall to fly a kite.  Maybe it stems back to my childhood love of Mary Poppins. 

 

The Mall was packed, and because I was out on a bike ride I was not able to fly my own kite, but it was just as much fun to watch.  People come from all over the country to compete in a variety of competitions and/or show off their skills.  Understanding that there are sometimes mishaps, there was even a kite doctor who could get you back in the air.
