As a Human Services major at GW, you are afforded the opportunity to hear Robert Egger speak either in your class and/or at an event in town; many of us even got some face time while volunteering with DC Central Kitchen. After hearing him speak in one of my classes, I was hooked by his message of nonprofits coming together. Instead of having multiple small organizations doing the same work and fighting for the same grant money/donors, we should learn to work together as a more cohesive unit. Similarly, NGOs make up a HUGE part of the US economy, yet we are not working together to make sure that our elected officials know what a driving force we can be in our communities.
With over 10 million employees, 90 million annual volunteers and 10% of
the American economy, the nonprofit sector needs a voice in our nation's
politics. CForward (representing the third largest private employment
sector) will help educate and elect leaders who see the nonprofit sector
as a valuable asset and resource in the economic rebuild of America.
