As I was meandering around Market Square the other day, I came across a poster for
Spirit of Uganda. A part of the NGO Empower African Children, this dance troupe of 22 Ugandans has been performing across the United States. The dancers/singers ranged from 11-22 and serve as ambassadors for the 2.5 million orphaned Ugandan children; all of the participants have lost one or both of their parents to HIV/AIDS.
When I was in Uganda a few summers ago some of the volunteers and I decided to take a break one weekend and treated ourselves to an afternoon filled with hot showers, a pool and an evening of traditional singing and dancing. Here is
a clip from one of the groups we saw perform. AMAZING!!
